With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Jo Taylor, a beloved mother, grandmother, and dedicated educator, who peacefully departed from this world on April 10, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by loved ones. Mary Jo was born on March 31, 1937, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Richard and Ellen Stanforth. She graduated from Indian Hill High School and later pursued a degree in teaching from Miami University. Teaching was a profession she cherished deeply. Her commitment to education was unwavering, having taught students since 1958 and serving as a teacher's aide until shortly before her passing. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom as she embraced each day with a dedication to shaping young minds. Her caring nature and compassionate spirit touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all those she encountered.
Mary Jo married Eugene "Yogi" Taylor Sr., and together they were blessed with three children: Zachary, Zeke, and Jody.
Mary Jo is survived by her children: Zachary (Karyn) Taylor, Zeke (Vanessa) Taylor and Jody (Patrick) Oursler; grandchildren: Brent Taylor, Brody Taylor, Gus Fulton, Sydney (Cullen) Garvey, and Kennedy Taylor; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Eugene "Yogi" Taylor; parents: Richard and Ellen Stanforth; and brothers: Richard and Bob Stanforth.
A Gathering of Friends and Family will be held at Brater Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, Ohio, on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 1:30 pm. Burial to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Consolidated School Scholarship Fund in honor of Mary Jo Taylor. A funeral home representative will be available during the services to assist you with your donation.
