Vernon Hollin, passed away on September 4, 2016, AGE 84, resident of Harrison. Vernon was born on November 21, 1931 to the late James and Laura Rose (nee Ferguson) Hollin. He served his country with honor in the United State Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He met and married Gail Nixon and they were blessed with 5 children: Jim, Amy, Allison, Rocky and Sam. Vernon worked as a Iron worker for Local 290 out of Dayton and traveled for his work. He enjoyed many hobbies: in his earlier years he enjoyed Horseback riding and fishing, but after Gail had a bad accident the Horse hobby ended and he and Gail enjoyed antiquing. Vernon worked on grandfather clocks and pocket watches. He also spent many days playing cards many days at the senior center with friends.
Vernon was the loving husband of the late Gail E.(nee Nixon) Hollin. Beloved father of Jim (Jenny), Amy, Allison and the late Rocky and Sam Hollin. Devoted brother of Cecil, Everett, Jean and Juanita. Cherished grandfather of Tracie, Chad, Amanda, Hayley, Dustin, Roxanne, and Samuel and great-grandfather of Brittney, Emily, Madison, Mehki, Jake, Grace, and Payton.
Visitation will be on Thursday, September 8, 2016 from 1 PM until the time of the Funeral Service at 2 PM in the Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street, Harrison, OH 45030, with Rev. Dawn Trapp officiating. Burial to follow at Elizabethtown Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post 199. Donations may be made to Elizabethtown United Methodist Church c/o funeral home.
