Shirley (nee Blanton) Morton, age 94, resident of Harrison, Ohio passed away on Sunday March 23, 2014.
She was born on December 14, 1919 to Cole & Ludia (nee Vaughn) Blanton and was one of 5 children. Shirley met her husband, Thomas Morton, while he was serving our country in the Civilian Conservation Corps and they were married and had 4 children, Erma Dale, Ted, Jan, and Kim. Shirley spent her life raising her children and being a homemaker. She enjoyed oil painting, writing poetry and short stories, and loved to read. She loved to talk about politics but never voted. Shirley was an avid sports fan,enjoyed watching baseball and football and had a special bond with her dog, Cheyenne.
Those surviving who will honor Shirley's memory include loving children: Ted (Geri) Morton, Jan Grubbs, Kim (Fred) Strothman; cherished grandchildren: Richard (Amy) Morton, Robin Morton (Mike Hensley), Becky Sumner, Renee (Bruce) Taylor, Rhonda (Dave), Roxanna Grubbs, Joan (Nick) Sedler; devoted great grandchildren: Jared, Sarah Hensley, Bridget, Dillon, Elizabeth, Destiny Taylor, Alex Grubbs, Alice Hill, Patrick & Ryder Sedler; and loving great great grandchild: Jaxson.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Cole & Ludia (nee Vaughn) Blanton; husband: Thomas Morton; infant daughter: Erma Dale Morton; and siblings: Dale Blanton, Cora Price, Ada Schmidt and LaWanda Yeager.
Visitation will be Thurs., Mar. 27, 2014 from 11 AM until the time of service at 12 PM at the Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, OH 45030 with Dr. Rev. Harold Shackelford officiating. Burial to follow at New Haven Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Cincinnati SPCA or Hospice of Cincinnati by mailing or bringing your donation to the funeral home.
