Retta Hayes Obituary
Retta M. (nee Rinehart) Hayes, Age 91, formerly a resident of Sayler Park, passed away Thursday, June 26, 2014. She was born October 18, 1922 in Augusta, Kentucky to the late William Willis and Elizabeth (nee Thackston) Rinehart. She was one of 12 children. She married William Burton Hayes and they had two sons: William Dennis and Bruce Wayne. Retta lived a good life and until the last few years was an active member of Eden Chapel United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday School, attend and held Bible Study and enjoyed talking and writing her extended church family. Her family was important to her and whether she just held your hand or made you one of her homemade birthday dinners you knew she loved you. She enjoyed crocheting and one of her favorite items to eat were Kroger donut holes. She left some wonderful memories with her family and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William B. Hayes in 2006 and also by her parents and 11 siblings.
Survivors include her two sons: William Dennis Hayes & Bruce Wayne (Connie) Hayes; wonderful grandchildren: Beth Paulsen, Kimberly Malay, & Jonathan Hayes; and loving great grandchildren: Patrick & Thomas Paulsen, Emma & Hannah Malay, and Bentley & Abigail Hayes.
Visitation will be Sunday, June 29, 2014 from 6 PM until time of service at 8 PM at Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 138 Monitor Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45233. Burial will be held Monday at Arlington Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Life Center or American Breast Cancer Association. If you plan on attending the visitation or funeral you can bring your donation to the funeral home and give it to a funeral home representative or you may mail your donation to the funeral home. The funeral home will notify the family of your donation and forward it to the respective charity.
