Lawrence Cleates Geis, age 83, resident of West Harrison, Indiana passed away in his home on Sunday, August 16, 2015. He was born in Southgate, Indiana on April 19, 1932 to Alois & Bertha (nee Walters) Geis. Lawrence proudly served our country in the United States Army from 1950-1953 during the Korean War. On November 6, 1954 he married Norma Wolfe and later this year they would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. He was a supervisor at General Motors for many years until his retirement. Lawrence was a very "handy" man. His family can not recall a time that he was unable to fix something himself. He was always working on cars & making parts for either himself or his family, friends and neighbors. In his younger days, Lawrence enjoyed riding motorcycles and drag racing at Edgewater. Although, he and Norma didn't have children of their own, they have many wonderful nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews that have filled their hearts with joy. They would take yearly vacations to Florida, Disney World, Tennessee, Dollywood, etc. Lawrence was a very kind and giving person, who was always willing to lend a hand and help when it was needed.
Survivors include his loving wife: Norma (nee Wolfe); many nieces, nephews, great & great great nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Harry Geis, Helen Wolfe, Walter Geis & Lillian Dieselberg.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 from noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM at the Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine Street Harrison, Ohio 45030. Memorial donations may be made to Margaret Mary Hospice or the Wounded Warrior Project through the funeral home. You can bring your donation to the funeral home or you can mail it to the funeral home. We will notify the family of your donation and Mail your check to the organization.
