He is preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Ruby (nee Alderman) Staab and also his girlfriend Penny Stewart. Greg was the only child and was raised in Sayler Park. He pursued this dream by starting out with go-karts and moving up to late model stock car division. Producing championships in 1969 and 1970, the first of many at the Dearborn County speed plant. He racked up 56 feature victories, 19 in 1984 campaign where his win total was fourth highest in the nation. Greg nailed down an impressive array of tract titles at Lawrenceburg Speedway and Bloomington and also driver of the year awards by the Cincinnati Auto Race Club, Buckeye Auto Race Fans and Dayton Auto Racing. He made 177 USAC sprint car starts through July of 1996 and while in action at paragon, IN Greg was seriously injured and he made a bold decision to hang up his driving gear for good. Greg devoted his entire existence to Auto racing and after he stopped driving he helped with operations at Lawrenceburg Speedway and also teamed up with drivers to drive his car. He landed his dream job with United States Auto Club and headed up the national sprint car division 2006 to 2008.
