Effie "Kitty", age 93, resident of Harrison Ohio, passed away at Shawnee Springs Nursing Home, on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Kitty was born in Yosemite, Kentucky on July 17, 1922 to Earl & Amanda (nee Carmichael) Luster. She spent all her childhood years and early adulthood in Kentucky, with her 7 siblings: Thelma, Wallace, Goldia, James, Alma, Dorothy and Jesse. On December 21, 1940, Effie married Harvey Gardner and they spent many wonderful years together. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, sewing, reading romance novels (especially Danielle Steele) and playing Bingo. Kitty was known to frequent many bingo halls in Harrison, Cheviot, Whiteoak and North College Hill. She enjoyed traveling to Mississippi and Florida with her daughter, Sherry. They would go to the casinos in Mississippi and visit family in Florida. Kitty loved her family, and enjoyed the time she spent with them.
She is survived by her loving daughter: Sherry Tekulve; cherished grandchildren: Ron (Betty) Tekulve Jr., & Kasey (Scott) Brandenburg; devoted great grandchildren: Jeremy Tekulve, Andrew & Ethan Brandenburg; step great great granddaughter: Naomi Brackenridge; and dear brother: Rev. Jesse (Juanita) Luster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Gardner; son-in-law: Ron Tekulve; grandson: Troy Tekulve; and siblings: Thelma, Wallace, Goldia, James, Alma and Dorothy.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 11, from 10:00 to 10:30 AM with burial to follow at New Haven Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Ohio through the funeral home.
