Edith Strimple Obituary
Edith Strimple, of Harrison, Ohio passed away at her residence on April 13, 2017 at the age of 100. She was born on October 1, 1916 in Aurora, Indiana to John and Myrtle (nee Vinson) Leffler. She had three brothers: Glen, Emmert, and Earl and a sister Irene that died at the age of three.
She married Donald Pierce Strimple and they were blessed with three children: Carolyn Jean, Donald Edward, and Barbara Ann. Edith worked at Thatchers glass, Schenley Distillers, and Seagrams Distillers. She also farmed with Donald. After slowing down her and Donald enjoyed traveling with the Harrison Ramblers Camping Club. Edith always had a big garden and would do lots of canning in the fall. She was an avid card player and enjoyed listening to Reds baseball on the radio and keeping stats but had never been to a game. Most important to Edith was her family. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Being the matriarch of the family, she was a wealth of knowledge when it came to the family tree. And will be greatly missed for all of her knowledge.
Edith is preceded in death by her husband Donald Strimple, her daughter Carolyn Baugh, her parents John and Myrtle (nee Vinson) Leffler, and her great great grandchild Hope Andres.
Those who will miss Edith most are her beloved children: Donald (LouAnn) Strimple and Barbara (William) Disbro; loving grandchildren: Leslie (Edward) Andres, Donald (Jennifer) Strimple, Tara Hammons, Victoria (Eric Scherzinger) Ertel, and Matthew (Lisa) Disbro; great grandchildren: Cassandra (Michael) Rice, Benjamin (Megan) Andres, Olyvia and Andrew Strimple, Dylan and Logan Hammons, Gaar and Gage Ertel, and Nicole and Wesley Disbro; great great grandchildren: Everlee and Benjamin Andres.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 6PM until the time of service at 7PM at Brater-Winter Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St., Harrison, Ohio. Burial will be Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10AM at Miamitown Cemetery. Memorials can be made to St John United Church of Christ through the funeral home. www.braterfh.com
