Ardwin Hoog Obituary

Ardwin H., Age 89. Lifelong resident of Southeastern Indiana & Southwest Ohio. Passed away on Sept. 18, 2015. He was born in Dearborn County, Indiana on April 20, 1926 to Alphonse & Rebecca (nee Schneider) Hoog. He was 1 of 5 children. Ardwin and his siblings grew up during the Great Depression, and he ended up being the man of the family. He took care of his mother and siblings in any way he could. Ardwin proudly served our country in the United States Air Force and served during World War II and the Korean War. He loved motorcycles and even had 2 different Harley Davidsons over the years. Ardwin worked for Dworkin (a company out of Middletown, Ohio) as an over the road truck driver. He hauled steel for automotive companies to various places in the continental United States. He loved the outdoors, and would always find him frying fish, chicken or squirrel using his own recipe. He frequented any and all church and fireman's festivals and volunteered his time to fry the chicken. He was known for his chicken frying skills at the Fireman's Festivals in Cedar Grove, St. Leon and New Trenton. Ardwin loved to be anywhere that there was beer and food. He was a member of the St. Leon American Legion Post #464 and enjoyed the fellowship he had with all the members.

Those surviving who will honor his memory are loving daughters: Stephanie Hopkins & Cindy (Michael) Evans; devoted grandchildren: Kevin Hopkins, Amanda (Matt) Nichols & Aaron (Tracie) Hopkins; dear great grandchildren: Blake Nichols, Ellie & Knox Hopkins and loving siblings: Ronnie Hoog, Shirley Roots.
