Police Officer Aaron M. Layton P421 (1977-2016)
Aaron Matthew, age 39, resident of Harrison Ohio passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 after suffering a fatal medical emergency. He was born March 30, 1977 to parents: Ronald & Mary Lynne (nee Armstrong) Layton. He was blessed to grow up with siblings: Ronda & Brent. He attended Canton South High School, in Canton, graduating during 1995. He attended University of Cincinnati, Majoring in Criminal Justice 1996-2000.
He then went on to work as a Counselor at the East Indiana Treatment Center in Lawrenceburg, IN. Later in 2000 he moved to Louisville and worked as a Case Worker at the Stark Regional Community Corrections Center. During November 2002 he became a Customer Service Representative for Citi Cards in Florence.
Aaron joined the Cincinnati Police Department as a Police Recruit on September 7, 2003. On February 22, 2004 he was promoted to Police Officer and assigned to District 4. During January 2006 Police Officer Layton transferred to District 3. Within a year he was assigned to the Neighborhood Unit. On June 1, 2008 Officer Layton transferred to the Mounted Patrol and during April 2009 back to District 4. He also served for a short time in the District 4 Investigative Unit. On January 17, 2016 he transferred to Personnel Section and took a medical retirement on June 4, 2016 with 12 years of service.
Aaron loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his 2 boys: Cross & Nathan. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Those surviving who will honor his memory are his loving parents: Ronald & Mary Lynne (nee Armstrong) Layton; dear siblings: Ronda Layton & Brent (Christina) Layton, devoted sons: Cross & Nathan; ex-wife: Dana Layton: loving grandmother: Rosella Layton; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Gerald Layton, Edgar & Delores Armstrong.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 from 11AM until the time of funeral service at 1PM at Church on Fire, Harrison Avenue, Harrison Ohio 45030. Burial to follow at Glen Haven cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to a fund (currently being set up at Mainsource Bank) for a college fund for Cross and Nathan.
